Jaguar's new XKR Coupe was revealed to the world's motorsport media at the Autosport International show at the NEC in Birmingham. The Buckingham-based Apex Motorsport, run by Richard Lloyd, has developed the XKR model for use in the FIA GT3 European Championship. The Autosport International show is widely regarded to be globally one of the biggest and most successful motorsport shows.

Apex Motorsport has most recently enjoyed success with Bentley when they won the 2003 Le Mans 24 Hours. The Jaguar XKR GT3, featuring a 4.2 litre V8 supercharged engine, retains the aluminium body of the production model. The XKR is also fitted with a TORQline™ CS advanced composite propshaft, custom built for the 475 bhp Jaguar. The TORQline™ propshaft has the benefits of reducing weight giving less rotational inertia whilst increasing performance. The car has it's first official FIA track test at Monza on February 22nd and 23rd, with the five round race series beginning at Silverstone in May before finishing in Dubai in November.
