CTG win 2005 BEN AutoLogic Karting Championship
Mon 26th, Sep 2005
Sunday saw the conclusion of 4 months of racing and preparation to find the industries fastest Karting team.
CTG set the quickest lap in qualifying but after the additional fundraising was put into context Unipart led the field with a rolling start. As Unipart had raised £2579, this entitled them to a 51 second head start on qualification.
The race started at a hectic pace and within the first hour of the race, 5 black flags were handed out for speeding in the pit lane. At times 6 or 7 karts were shoving into corners resulting in a tight contest with warnings being handed out every 5 minutes for bumping and 'over-competitive driving'!
On the track Blue Bell BMW were setting a frenetic pace while the two Bentley teams were looking to catch last year's winners Crayford Citroen. Bentley 7 and 8, CTG, Jammy DODGErs and Crayford Citroen fought out the top 5 places.
CTG remained one lap ahead of Bentley 8 and 7 throughout the race and claimed this year's title! Jammy DODGErs and Crayford Citroen put up a brave fight finishing 4th and 5th respectively leaving Bentley 8 and 7 to celebrate 2nd and 3rd.
A total of £55,000 has been raised by all the teams this year for BEN.
