2005 BEN AutoLogic Karting Championship
Mon 12th, Sep 2005
Heat 6 of the 2005 BEN AutoLogic Karting Championship took place at Daytona Sandown Park on Sunday 11th September.
The 2 hour endurance event consisted of teams from CTG, Honda, Porsche, Unipart, Camtune and Volvo.
The track conditions were not ideal, the humid weather ensured the karts were performing well but the track was very greasy from the start with some overnight rain. The track's first victims were Crayford Citroen, last years overall champion, who were left helpless on the first lap, spinning off a very greasy track.
CTG kept every team at bay all the way to the end just 1 lap ahead of Skoda Auto and Unipart. CTG also took the fastest lap time at 49.586 and Crayford Citroen weren't far off on 49.656!
The event was a huge success with some great rivalry between teams. Over £6,500 was raised for BEN from additional sponsorship which also helped teams to reduce valuable seconds from their qualification times.
CTG now progress to the national finals where they hope to continue their impressive form and to raise money for BEN.
