CTG launches TORQline TiC Hybrid Titanium/Carbon composite propshaft

Tue 25th, Nov 2003

After a highly successful season on and off the track for its TORQline composite driveline products, Banbury, UK-based CTG has introduced a new concept in lightweight propshaft technology called TORQline TiC. The technology has specific applications in the WRC market, and other high performance all-terrain applications where extremely harsh environments are encountered. CTG's TORQline TiC propshaft system incorporates a titanium outer sleeve that provides unrivalled protection against abrasion, impacts and heat for the structural carbon composite tube within.

Featuring optimised titanium joints of various configurations to suit each application, the TORQline TiC propshaft is designed and proven to offer the stiffness of a composite propshaft with the external toughness of a metallic propshaft, allowing the replacement of current multi-piece metallic systems with light and stiff single piece propshafts – this means large weight savings even over optimised titanium propshaft systems.

The TORQline TiC technology is adaptable for any motorsport application, and facilitates the use of extremely lightweight propshaft systems in harsh environments.

CTG will be at Stand E339, Autosport Engineering 2003.
