Formula Schools 2002 Report

Mon 1st, Jul 2002

This year's Formula Schools competition took place on June 14 at Silverstone. Among the competitors were former winners Lord Williams's School of Thame, Oxfordshire, sponsored by CTG.

CTG had helped the Lord Williams's team with a factory tour, demonstrating the company's composites and Keronite technologies, and later produced some bespoke components for the team's car.

Among the components made specifically for Lord Williams's car was the first ever CTG Keronite/Advanced Composite Heat Shield to be put into service.

Despite some technical problems early in the event, and having to cope with treacherous driving conditions later on, Lord Williams's School won their heat and qualified for the final set of three races. The team placed 4th in the first leg of the final, before damaging their front bumper in a collision. The damage was severe enough for the team to miss out the second leg completely, before making a great comeback to finish 2nd in the final leg.

The team finished an excellent 6th overall, and 2nd in their class. Lord Williams's also picked up the Teamwork prize, being justly awarded for their highly professional approach.
