CTG Committed to a Greener Cleaner Future
Fri 30th, Apr 2010
CTG is proud to announce its key role within a consortium of developing next generation technology for compact, ultra efficient energy storage systems. The Technology Strategy Board funded programme allows CTG to develop a revolutionary, lightweight, high power density, KERS systems in conjunction with others members of the collaborative project.
The two year programme which is codenamed "KinerStor" is led by Ricardo UK who are experienced in engineering and drive train solutions and working with the government led Technology Strategy Board.
After a successful conclusion to the two year programme, collaborative efforts from all seven partners will mean KinerStor results in a mass market available product aimed at supporting a significant reduction in current engine size for a variety of platforms. These will be from small passenger vehicles, multi passenger vehicles (busses) to larger scale industrial plant equipment (such as JCB diggers).
The expectation is the reduction in engines size will permit the mean power requirements of the vehicle to be met with the engine and the additional peak power requirements to be met with the KERS system. This enables a significant reduction in engine size, weight and packaging requirements providing much improved consumption figures through product life cycles.
