Role Summary

Working as part of a purchasing team you will manage the indirect supply base on quality, cost and delivery.

We seek candidates experienced in

  • Implementing business sourcing strategies
  • Ensuring supply supports business measures
  • Managing supplier relationships to achieve key project milestones.
  • Driving the implementation of supplier generated improvement plans.

Manufacturing Engineer

We invite applications from Manufacturing Engineers, who are either degree (Mechanical or Manufacturing) or apprenticeship qualified, and passionate about continuous improvement, to join our dynamic, enthusiastic, and fast growing organisation.

Role Summary

Working as part of a multi-disciplined team you will manage production process & product validation in addition to working on all current quality, cost and delivery improvement programmes.

We seek candidates experienced in

  • Motivating, sourcing and commissioning of manufacturing plant, tooling and equipment.
  • Developing, installing functional production processes (SOP's).
  • Producing process validation plans and carry out and managing the delivery of the work.
  • Producing detailed Capital Expenditure plans.
    Achieving plant justification performance, in accordance with project timing plan.
    Identifying, measuring and driving improvement activities, e.g. scrap levels or capacity constraints.
  • Ensuring plant layout, processes and practice maximises CI and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Ensuring that all the necessary gauging/measuring equipment is in place & capable.

Project Engineer

Role Summary

The role requires an enthusiastic individual reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager to take responsibility for producing plans, specifications, Product Verification Tests and report deliverables associated with the Qualification and Production of new products and new equipment.

Principal Accountabilities

The job holder will support the Manufacturing Engineering team to support the business and customer reporting systems associated with the System Development, Qualification, Demonstration Production of new products and new equipment, they are accountable for:

  • Producing and maintaining Qualification project plans, test specifications and reports, in line with legal, customer and component specific requirements
  • Support the design of test jigs in support of Qualification and Demonstration
  • Work closely with Design, Quality and Manufacturing Engineering teams to support the implementation of PFMEA and Control Plan activities and thus ensure a smooth transition of the qualified product into full scale production
  • Be responsible for maintaining and updating engineering information related to all current products up to date, by managing Engineering Change Requests, SAP and Drawing updates, Quality Assurance and Production data
  • To support in the introduction and commissioning of any new/replacement/additional manufacturing equipment/machines that may be required
  • Use the Engineering Change control process in support of improvement activities to ensure full traceability for decision making and changes to product and process specifications
  • Periodically review production data to identify issues before they arise
  • Product preventative maintenance schedules for new equipment to ensure complete reliability
  • To clearly communicate actions and progress of engineering tasks in hand

Personal Characteristics

The successful candidate will have a comprehensive range of skills including;

  • Good organisational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly motivated and able to assert self within team environment
  • A background in Aerospace, Engineering and or Manufacturing would be advantageous

 Typical Education and Experience

  • Degree qualified with minimum 2:1 BEng or MEng in a Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Discipline from recognised leading engineering university. Experience in a quality/manufacturing/production engineering role. Typical skills utilised would include problem solving techniques, engineering change control, capability studies, project planning, Gauge R+R studies, report writing and process/product verification
  • Degree qualified with minimum 2:1 BEng or MEng in a Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Discipline from recognised leading engineering university with industrial experience in a manufacturing/quality/production engineering role or extensive project based design and practical experience, such as major role in a Formula Student team responsible for major section the car design, development and manufacture with a strong drive to work in a manufacturing support environment
  • Alternative engineering education routes such as apprentice trained + HND or similar combined with engineering experience in a quality/manufacturing/production engineering role with a strong mechanical engineering and problem solving skill set. Experience using typical manufacturing tools for problem solving and process assessment such as engineering change control, capability studies, project planning, Gauge R+R studies, report writing and process/product verification

Project Engineer

Role Summary

To be the engineering contact focus for production projects supporting on-going quality cost and delivery improvements with existing products

We seek candidates experienced in

  • Owning engineering production support, production improvements and quality improvement activity.

  • Documenting activities and communicating the lessons to be learnt and institutionalising the learning.
  • Owning the Engineering Change Requests process and documentation.
  • Owning the concessions process and documentation.
  • Working closely with the engineering team to address production project priorities.
  • Working closely with quality system owner to ensure improvements and lessons learnt are supported.
  • Owning the configuration control aspects of the live projects to ensure AS9100 compliance is maintained.
  • Representing the company to the customer from an engineering perspective for these programs and manage change from the customer with support of the Engineering manager.

Manufacturing Technician

Development Engineer

Role Summary

A key contributor to the introduction of new products and processes to internal and external customer requirements. The Development Engineer is to work within CTG's New Technology Engineering team, and will be responsible for the design, development and product introduction of Advanced Composite Components in a highly challenging and fast-paced environment.

Working within a multi-disciplinary team and on many projects concurrently, the Development Engineer must have good time management skills, be a team player, and be pro-active, resourceful and dedicated to meeting engineering targets.

Principle Accountabilities

  • To support in the identification, design, development, introduction and validation of new systems and components.To complete detailed CAD models and drawings to a high standard.
  • To carry out all design validation activities through first principles calculations, Finite Element Analysis and testing.
  • To help implement and manage product validation plans.
  • To help define, develop and update manufacturing processes for products within the value stream.
  • To provide reports and documentation necessary to demonstrate product performance and compliance with technical requirements.
  • Where necessary generate suitable documentation to facilitate the manufacture of a product both in terms of directly related documents (including work instructions) and surrounding quality and training.
  • To work closely where necessary with other functions to deliver projects.
  • To clearly communicate actions and progress of engineering tasks in hand.
  • Potential for some UK and overseas based travel up to a maximum of 10% of time.

Personal Specification

  • Clear open two-way communication skills.
  • Highly motivated, with a keen ability to use own initiative.
  • Excellent time management, analytical and design skills.
  • Knowledge of composite materials desirable but not essential.
  • Willing to work in both office based and workshop based environments.
  • Enthusiastic and flexible in performing a wide range of tasks within and sometimes outside of their standard job description.

Qualifications and Experience

Preferably degree qualified with minimum 2:2 BEng or MEng (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent similar level degree such as Aerospace or Automotive) from recognised leading engineering University, with either 1-2 years industry experience or undergraduate industrial placement experience.
